M’sian Opens 2nd Signing Store & Employs Staff With Hearing Impairment


Planning to visit Penang? Here is one place you need to check out. 

On 19 November, Starbucks announced that they will be opening another signing store in Penang, Malaysia. This will be the second of its kind in Malaysia and the fourth in the entire world.

Other places that have similar signing stores include Kuala Lumpur, Guangzhou and Washington D.C.

On Facebook, Starbucks Malaysia announced that the second signing store is already officially in motion and brewing and tried to garner fellow Penangites to share the amazing news so that everyone can have fun and enjoy the unique experience. 

American Sign Language is used to spell out the store sign and some of the pictures of their employees have since been put up at that particular Starbucks. 

Partnership with the Penang Deaf Association

Starbucks Stories Asia reported that their signing stores were made with the intention of providing employment opportunities to the deaf and the hard of hearing
